Flygt, the originator of the electrical submersible pump, was founded in the town of Emmaboda in southern Sweden in 1901.
It all started when blacksmith, Per Alfred Stenberg, and engineer Hilding Flygt, cooperated in order to manufacture and sell pumps in the local town. Though, the major breakthrough for the company came in 1947 when Sixten Englesson, chief engineer, invented the first submersible drainage pump.
